Skeletor!

Hey everyone! So there's this dog that these people found and they call him Skeletor because he's super duper skinny and they are nursing him back to health. He has heart worm and his foster peeps need help to pay for his rehabilitation and treatment. So take a sec to stop by his blog and meet him because he's totes cool.

Please donate to help Skeletor

They're fine!

Hey everyone - your good thoughts worked! My gramps and his wife are fine. They don't have any electricity or phone, but they were able to get to the internets somehow to let us know they are ok.
My thoughts are going out to all those other people who are still waiting or have lost someone in the quake.
I'll probably still poop on the floor in solidarity.

Chile.

So one of my grandpas lives in Chile and we still haven't heard from him but we're pretty sure he's ok because he doesn't live in a super heavily populated city. But the aftershocks in his area are like 5-6 magnitude. So we're ringing our paws a bit around here waiting to hear from him.
So, please send good vibes to my Grandpa Bill in Chile.
Edit - it's 7:30pm and still no news. My parents are getting worried. I'm so worried I pooped on the floor.

Surgery!

This totes sucks! I totally have to have surgery on my eye next week because the eye doc says I probably won't heal without it because I have something called a boxer ulcer but I'm not a boxer and it's not really an ulcer, it's an erosion. The eye doctor said that this condition happens a lot in boxers and Bostons (especially more mature dogs like me.) What happens is the outermost layer of the cornea, call the epithelium, gets an injury and then it erodes off the stroma which is the next layer down and then it tries to heal, but for some reason the new epithelium doesn't adhere to the next layer down and then it sloughs off and then the areas around it stop adhering too and then the erosion gets bigger and bigger. So the eye doctor scrapes off all my epithelium and then scratches my eyeball so there is some texture for the new epithelium to adhere to and she said it's kind of like a Velcro type effect. So I have to wear a cone for a few weeks after the surgery and sometimes it takes a month to heal and I might have to wear a cone for a month!
So this isn't my eye, but this is pretty much exactly what it looks like when it's stained.

And the best part is the surgery is going to be $600 and that's with a professional discount! So my mom is kind of freaking out.

To the Eye Doc.

Ok, so I've been really quiet lately because my mom has been a little grumpy and not feeling all that bloggy - sorry we haven't been around. And today I go to the eye doctor. Grrr.
I'll update when we are back.

Valentine's Day!

So I know everyone has been really sad these past few days and I have been too, but I wanted to wish everyone, especially my sweet Martha, a happy Valentine's Day. I have a lot of love in my life because I totally love my mom and my dad and my grandma and the cats - especially Odin because we are really good friends. I love my Auntie Kathryn and Uncle Ansel and my grandpa and I left them all behind in Minnesota and I want to tell them that I miss them. So here's a really handsome picture of me for Valentine's Day.

And this is an old picture partially because my mom is super lazy and partially because I have another corneal ulcer which isn't healing and I had to have my eye stitched shut for a while. Hopefully it will heal that way so I don't have to have surgery again like I had on my other eye. So please send some healing vibes my way because that was a super painful time for me. I hope everyone can forget the sadness for a little while and think about all the love we have. I'm sending some extra special loving vibes to Wally's Ma Ape.

My little Boston terrier heart is broken. RIP, Wally, you will be dearly missed. Have fun roaching in that prairie in the sky. I will cherish my Wally fridge magnet forever. I just don't know what else to say ...

This is Wally and I put a Band-aid on his ticker which I totally think will help.

Sleeping in Seattle.

So there was a flower and garden convention in Seattle this weekend and my dad is a landscape designer and stuff, so we drove down there for it and I got to go because I'm awesome and they would miss me soooooo much if they left me at home. We stayed in the same hotel that we stayed in last time because they pretty much love me there, and they don't charge extra for me. So I slept in the hotel yesterday while my mom and and dad and grandma went to the convention which my mom said was totes boring and was just a bunch of people trying to sell overpriced gimmicky garden stuff.. Then we went out for pizza, and I had to stay in the car, but they brought me tons of pizza crust which almost made up for having to stay in the car. And today we went to Gasworks Park and I pooped there and made a little gas of my own. We also went to visit this giant troll who lives under a bridge and crushed a VW Beetle.
This is a picture I stole off the net because my grandma accidentally deleted all the pictures that she took and my mom was too lazy to bring her camera.

And this is a cell phone pic of me with the troll.

In other news, I have a new corneal ulcer that won't heal, but my mom has been doing a ton of research and she's pretty sure she found the problem and the cure. Turns out some dogs make too much of an enzyme in their tears and it inhibits healing. So to counteract that, you can make eye drops out of this injectable drug called Adequan which is used for arthritis. So my mom needs to go into work tomorrow and do some more research on this special vet forum thing so she can make me these eye drops which might make me heal! And if it works, she can make the drops every time I get an ulcer and then I won't have this problem anymore! Woot!
