A Tribute to the Best Mom in the world on her birthday

It's time to celebrate the most wonderful person I have ever known.

These are the things my mom reminds me of:

Because she is beautiful and mysterious and hard to pluck.

Because she is proud and majestic and loving and knows how to hunt (metaphorically speaking) and is still sweet even after she just took down unsuspecting prey.

Yeah, I said it! Mother Theresa! ...but of the animals. She is a healer and makes sure that critters have a voice even though they can't speak.

And here is one of her favorite artists playing one of her favorite songs, because she employs her wit like Mr. Bird plays his violin. I hope you enjoy it... Actually, I don't care if you enjoy it... it's for her.

I love you, mama. And so do the cats.... but not as much as I do.

P.S. My pops helped me write this so she wouldn't know until she saw it. He wants her to know that he, too, thinks she is pretty great.

Tattoo Reveal and Other Stuff.

Ike's mom here: I finally was able to take off the Tegaderm bandage to see my tattoo! It was so itchy it felt like ten million little mosquito bites, and scratching is a huge no no. Here are the pics - it's still a little scabby, so it will look a lot better in a week or so. This dog is Meg, when Ike goes in 25 years, he will become a tattoo too.

Here's the original.

I can't believe I let my mom use my blog! So a few things have been happening around here. I started on new food.

WEIGHT CARE!!!! WTF? But then I saw this on top of the fridge!

And this is a picture of my suture in my eye. My mom thinks my eye is getting a lot better, and they will check it next week and then I can get the suture out if it doesn't have stain uptake.

My mom and dad told me that they will be in San Diego this week without me! and my mom's friend Erin is coming to stay with me. Hmmmmmm.

Eye ball.

So I have to go back to the eye doc on Thursday, and he's going to partially sew my eye shut because I grew a huge ridge of vessels and I don't blink completely now. It's better than the $800 surgery though. The ulcer is about sixty percent healed, but now I have this blinking problem.
My mom is dying to put up a pic of her tattoo, but she has this Tegaderm bandage on it which she has to wear for a week, and it's totally cool because it's breathable but it keeps bacteria out and keeps it from getting rubbed from her clothes. So we don't get to see it until Monday!
I'm sorry we haven't had time to get to everyone's blogs lately because my mom is so super busy all the time!
My mom's friend Erin is coming to stay with me and the cats next week because my Uncle Ansel and Auntie Kat are finally getting married and my parents are leaving me behind and going to San Diego to the wedding! So not fair!
Here's me before my eye got all terrible.

Ain't been around.

Ok, so I haven't been around much because my mom was working extra last week and she was planning Auntie Kathryn's bridal shower so she was stressed to the max. She told me that I couldn't come to the party today because I'm a boy and I said I don't have any nards but she still left me at home.
The only reason that she's typing for me is because she can't sleep because she's nervous because tomorrow is tattoo day! She keeps looking at her leg and saying - look at it because it will never look the same again - drama queen!
So here is a dashingly handsome pic of me because it's a lot more interesting than my mom's boring old nerves.

Eye update: It's still not healed, but it's better and my mom doesn't want to put a pic of it on here because it is g-ross! It's grown all these blood vessels (it's supposed to) so it looks all nasty and it's taking furever to heal. We still don't know if I have to have surgery because it is slowly getting better. My mom has to call the eye doc tomorrow. All the healing vibes you can muster would be appreciated!

OMD! Amazing Adoption Day Weekend!

Ok, so you know how I totally got screwed out of an adoption day party? Well, my parents totally made up for it over the weekend because on Saturday, they got people to have parties all over the country. We had a personal BBQ and then at night, they really pulled out the stops because there were fireworks all over the city! Can you believe it? Talk about making up for your mistakes! And then on Sunday, we went to a park for a hike and I was totes exhausted afterward and then we went to Trader Joes and I got a monster braided pizzle! Woot!

And this is from the BBQ when I got a whole plate to myself with a steak and salad and grilled toast with butter. Do you think it's super weird that I ate the salad first?

I can has steak chunk? Nom nom!

Can I have some more please?

Then we went on super long walkies with Grandma and Auntie Kathryn's super nice mom, Deb. And crabby Ruby.

And this is me and my mom in the forest on Sunday.

This is me and my dad. He's giving me chin scritchies which are pretty much my second favorite.

Isn't my dad handsome and nice?

And then we found this little grove of maidenhair ferns which are my mom's favorite ferns.

And then I was sooooo tired my mom had to carry me to the car and they blasted the A/C on me all the way home.

About the eye - we went back to the ophthamologist because my cornea is still taking up stain and he said it's healing totally slow, but it is getting better so we are giving it two more weeks and then if it isn't healed I have to have surgery which is $800 and my mom is all - OMG Ikenstein, heal, heal!

And the winner is!

Nothing says summer like that smile, that picnic, that super silly face!

Congrats Snowball!

And the design is finished for my mom's Meg tattoo! Look how beautiful it is! It was done by a fabulous lady on Etsy.com whose seller name is CLineCreations. You should check her stuff out! And she didn't even charge a fortune!

Ok, so you know how it's my adoption anniversary, well my parents decided to celebrate it this weekend! WTF, OMG! My mom says it's because she didn't get home from work until after 7 and my dad has been lazy since getting home, but that is no excuse. I expected balloons and cake and super walkies and all that stuff. They say that it will be more fun this weekend because there will be more people and treats and stuff, but I think this is just a screw job, seriously.
And the eye doc said my eye is infected, but if we do one of my meds 10,396 times a day it will get better pretty quickly. Whatever.
Don't forget to vote for the photo contest below! I'm gonna go chew up a shoe and pee on the couch and maybe I'll crap and eat it and barf on my mom's pillow.
How could they deny this face? I'm pretty sure they have no hearts.
